Netflix docuseries from Omaha, NFL Films, Skydance Sports to look inside WWE writers’ room

WWE’s Monday Night Raw debuted on Netflix in January

Netflix has commissioned a documentary series that will for the first time look inside the WWE writers’ room.

WWE: Unreal (10×50’) is being produced by Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sports and WWE.

The show was announced at WWE’s flagship event WrestleMania at the weekend and will premiere this summer. Erik Powers is showrunner with Chris Weaver directing.

Executive producers are Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ross Ketover, Keith Cossrow, Ken Rodgers, Jessica Boddy, Lee Fitting, Ben Houser and Marc Pomarico.

The green light comes after Netflix’s exclusive global deal to carry WWE’s weekly show Monday Night Raw, worth US$5bn over 10 years. The show has made it into Netflix’s top 10 chart every week since it premiered on the streamer on January 6.

Meanwhile, Netflix has also renewed its version of Temptation Island for a second season, to be produced by Banijay Studios North America. David Goldberg and David Friedman are the exec producers.
