Netflix commissions deception-based reality series from UK’s Mettlemouse

Netflix has ordered a new deception-based psychological reality series from UK-based production company Mettlemouse.  

Playing with Matches (working title) follows undercover couples from all walks of life who are tasked with concealing their own relationship while exposting everyone else’s.  

The greenlight comes amid a spate of greenlights from the streamer’s US team, including reality series Arizona Hot (working title) and New Jersey-set The Leftovers, as well as recently released titles like Calabasas Confidential and other dating projects such as Temptation Island, Million Dollar Secret, Age of Attraction and Love Is Blind. 

Playing with Matches is executive produced by Mettlemouse’s Sarah Tyekiff and Shaun Parry. 

Mettlemouse, which is minority owned by BBC Studios, is behind projects including reality dating format The Honesty Box as well as Spencer Matthews: Am I a Psychopath?
