Netflix, AMC Studios pair for Bannerman drama based on John R Maxim novels

Netflix and AMC Studios have greenlit Bannerman, a drama coproduction based on the spy novels by John R Maxim.

The series, produced by AMC Studios, will premiere on AMC in the US and Canada and will also be available on Netflix in those territories 90 days after the premiere of the season finale on AMC.

It marks the two companies’ first time developing and producing an original series together. Netflix and AMC will jointly premiere each episode in Australia, New Zealand and Spain, while Netflix will debut the show exclusively everywhere else in the world.

Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) co-wrote the first episode with Craig Silverstein and will executive produce and direct the first two episodes.

Silverstein (Nikita, Turn: Washington’s Spies) will showrun, write and executive produce. Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead, Creepshow) and Brian Witten (Creepshow) will also executive produce.

The series, based on a run of five Bannerman novels, centres on charismatic ex-spy Paul Bannerman, a lethal covert operative who convinces a group of the world’s most deadly assassins to quit the game for a chance at normal lives in the suburbs of Connecticut.

Elsewhere, Netflix has renewed America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for a fourth season, to launch in 2027, produced by One Potato Productions and Boardwalk Pictures in association with Campfire Studios.
