Milkshake!, RTÉ, NRK greenlight preschool series The Huggingtons

The Huggingtons was created by Klipp Fiction

Paramount-owned 5’s Milkshake! in the UK, Ireland’s RTÉ and NRK in Norway have greenlit an animated preschool series called The Huggingtons.

The 52×5’ series, which marks the first coproduction between the three broadcasters, follows the adventures of a half-Viking, half-troll and her family in a magical world of fjords, forests, wildlife and family hugs.

The original series was created by Klipp Fiction in Norway, which has teamed up with Ireland’s Kaveleer Productions to produce it. The show is the first original production to come from Kavaleer’s newly established Manchester base Kavaleer UK.

The Huggingtons will premiere next year and Epic Story Media is distributing it worldwide.

Kjersti Greger, CEO of Klipp Fiction, said: “ We always wanted The Huggingtons to bring something distinctly Norwegian to children’s television. The world is inspired by our landscapes, folklore and cultural traditions – including some of the stranger and more playful ones – but at its heart, the show is about family, curiosity and the wonderfully big emotions of being small.

“We hope children everywhere will find this world and the characters funny and relatable, but also discover something they haven’t seen before.”
