Jetix UK bags BKN’s Dork Hunters

Jetix UK has acquired series one and two of BKN’s animated comedy series Dork Hunters From Outer Space, based on the audiences it attracted on GMTV’s Toonattik last year.

In 2008, Dork Hunters series one was the second most popular show among boys aged 4-9, achieving audience share in excess of 38% on GMTV. In addition, it ranked as the number two show in terms of share across all kids 4-15 years in November 2008, according to Barb figures.

Dork Hunters series one will debut on Jetix in spring 2009, to be followed by series two late 2009, following the UK premier of series two on GMTV’s Toonattik block.

Jetix UK director of programming Dominic Gardiner said: “We’re constantly on the look-out for high-quality comedy animation. The lead characters in Dork Hunters are both funny and sporty, qualities we believe our audience can relate to.”

“Having our series on multiple channels in the UK is a great position to be in,” added Nicola Andrews, MD of BKN New Media. “We’ve always been quietly confident that Dork Hunters would do well. The ratings on GMTV speak for themselves, and we now eagerly await the same success on Jetix this spring.”
