Jetix revenues up, new copros announced

As it posts increases in net income and revenues as part of its 2005 interim results, Jetix Europe has announced a new copro with Disney, entitled Get Ed, as well as a new Pucca long form TV series with Canada’s Studio B.

Get Ed is a new copro with Disney that follows the adventures of Ed, a boy genetically created from an ancient artefact. Working as a cybersleuth, he foils identity thefts and other information-based crimes.

Jetix has also commissioned another live action/cgi hybrid copro, but could not reveal any further details at this stage. In addition, following a strong consumer products performance for Pucca in 2004 and high levels of interest, Jetix has commissioned a full series from Studio B in Canada.

As part of its financial results for the six months ending March 31 2005, Jetix Europe’s revenues increased by 8% to $91.3m. Net income was up 45% to $13.9m and operating income up 57% to $14.3m.

Jetix changed its name from Fox Kids in August 2004. Ceo Paul Taylor said the move was proving largely successful.

“During the last six months almost all of Jetix’s channels have relaunched under their new name and branding. The last channel to switch, Germany, renames tomorrow,” said Taylor. “In some markets this has had a positive effect on performance, particularly in France, whilst in others the new name and branding are still building.”

Taylor also announced additions to the management team including a new cfo Dene Stratton, who joins from Disney and Etienne De Villiers and Andy Bird, who have joined the supervisory board.
