ITV reboots gameshow Deal or No Deal with Stephen Mulhern as host

Noel Edmonds originally fronted Deal or No Deal in the UK
UK broadcaster ITV has confirmed its reboot of Deal or No Deal, with Banijay UK-owned prodco Remarkable Entertainment bringing back the gameshow format after almost seven years off air in the country.
Noel Edmonds, host of the original UK version that was a hit for Channel 4 between 2005 and 2016, will not be returning, with Stephen Mulhern (Catchphrase) instead coming on board as host.
Casting is now open for the reboot, which was commissioned by ITV’s Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning, and Joe Mace, commissioning editor for entertainment.
The series will return on ITV and streamer ITVX in a new setting with new prize boxes, with contestants battling it out against the Banker to be in with a chance of winning a life-changing cash prize, in a nail-biting game of nerves and intuition.
Each week, a contestant is confronted with 22 sealed boxes, each one hiding a different amount of money. Without knowing what each one contains, the contestant must eliminate the boxes, which are opened one at a time, and the amount of money inside is revealed.
Pressure mounts as the player is tempted by the Banker to accept an offer of cash in exchange for what might be inside their box. As long as the larger cash prizes remain unchosen, the Banker’s offers will get higher. But that can all change in an instant if a big cash prize is unveiled.
Deal or No Deal first launched in 2002 in the Netherlands. It has been commissioned in more than 80 territories worldwide, with more than 350 productions.
The executive producers of the ITV version are Tamara Gilder and Cat Lawson, joint MDs of Remarkable Entertainment. Natalka Znak is CEO of Remarkable Entertainment, with Claire O’Donohoe as chief creative officer.
