Hundreds of M6 episodes to be made available on Disney+ in France

French commercial broadcaster M6 Group has struck a content deal with The Walt Disney Company France that will see M6 shows stream on Disney+ in France.

The pact means two flagship M6 programmes, Scènes de ménages and En Famille, will join the platform on September 25. Two more, Mariés au premier regard and The Power: Qui a le pouvoir?, will be added in early 2027.

In total, several hundred episodes of programming will gradually become available on Disney+. Both companies claim the distribution model highlights the “complementary strengths” of the two groups.

The deal enables Disney+ to enhance its offering of family-friendly French entertainment, while M6 broadens its audience reach, digital footprint and ability to target younger demographics aged 15-34.

It also follows previous streaming deals Disney+ has made with other broadcasters across Europe, including with ITV in the UK, Atresmedia and RTVE in Spain and Rai in Italy.

So-called ‘frenemy’ collaborations between legacy broadcasters and rival streaming platforms are becoming more common across the continent. Last June, Netflix and TF1 signed an “unprecedented alliance” through which the streamer’s subscribers in France can access TF1’s content on the platform.

Karl Holmes, general manager of Disney+ EMEA, said: “M6 has created shows that audiences in France really love, and we’re excited to bring some of those favourites to Disney+.

“With their strong appeal among younger viewers, it’s a natural fit and means even more local shows for our customers to enjoy. We’re really pleased to take this next step with M6, and to keep working with broadcasters across Europe to bring their shows to new audiences.”

David Larramendy, chairman of the executive board at M6 Group, said: “We are delighted to extend our longstanding relationship with Disney through this innovative collaboration.

“It will enable some of our most iconic brands to reach new audiences and benefit from additional exposure among Disney+ subscribers. This agreement reflects the transformation of the audiovisual landscape and demonstrates how broadcasters and streaming services can work together to develop new models that benefit audiences, content and creators alike.”
