House of David studio Wonder Project to launch subscription service through Prime Video

House of David has reached more than 40 million viewers internationally

Wonder Project, the LA-based studio behind biblical drama series House of David, is set to launch its own subscription streaming offering via Amazon’s Prime Video in the US.

The studio, which is led by Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten and Jon Erwin, said the service will go live in the fall, with more than 1,000 hours of series and movie content including the exclusive season-two premiere of House of David. The service will be priced at US$8.99 a month.

Season one of House of David, produced by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios, launched in February on Prime Video. It was the number-one series on Prime Video in the US following its launch, according to Amazon, and has reached more than 40 million viewers internationally.

After the second season has premiered exclusively on Wonder Project’s streaming service, it will move to Prime Video in the US and then to Prime Video internationally at a later date.

Erwin and Jon Gunn are directors, writers, and executive producers on the project, which spans the journey of David from his early life as a shepherd through to his battle with Goliath and ascent to king of the House of David.

In addition to House of David and the 1,000 hours of series and films, the new streaming product will feature exclusive originals produced by Wonder Project.
