Goldridge Media bags Lorton Entertainment slate for Mipcom launch

George Ezra’s feature doc End to End

UK distributor Goldridge Media has teamed up with Lorton Entertainment, the London-based prodco behind hit doc Bros: After the Screaming Stops, to represent the company’s films globally.

At Mipcom in Cannes next week, Lorton’s programming line-up will be presented “for the first time at the market,” according to Goldridge, as part of the alliance between the two companies.

Founded by Julian Bird and a consortium of private financiers in 2014, Lorton Entertainment has raised and invested third-party capital for the production and release of 17 independent films.

As well as the 2018 Bros doc, these include Oasis documentary Supersonic and follow-up Liam Gallagher doc As It Was; Bafta-nominated Maradona, from Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia; and the upcoming Boris Becker film project from Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side) and John Battsek (One Day in September).

Goldridge will be distributing new Lorton films in the music genre including James Blunt’s One Brit Wonder and George Ezra’s feature documentary End to End, as well as sports doc Rooney. It will also have newly released horseracing doc Horsepower from Lorton and Protagonist Pictures.

The slate also includes new true crime series Life After Death – described by Goldridge as “incredibly powerful” and “harrowing” – which explores the miscarriages of justice that left four innocent people condemned to death row in the US.

The series is directed by Oscar nominee Lior Geller, with exec producer Anthony Samadani of the Good News Network and producers Arthur Landon from Lorton Entertainment and Mark Koops at INE entertainment in LA.
