Globo inks content deals with Fox-owned Tubi in Mexico, Canal+ in Poland

The initial rollout includes The Life We Lead

Tubi, the AVoD platform owned by Fox Corporation, has inked a partnership with Globo, Brazil’s largest content producer, to bring a slate of Brazilian telenovelas to viewers in Mexico. The move forms part of Tubi’s strategy to bolster its offering in Latin America with culturally resonant content.

The initial rollout includes titles such as The Life We Lead, Sweet Diva, Celebrity and Precious Pearl, the latter having won an International Emmy award. From May 1, additional titles will be added to the platform’s catalogue, including The Favourite and Empire.

The collaboration capitalises on the deep-rooted popularity of telenovelas in Mexico and across the region. Speaking on the announcement, David Salmon, executive VP and international MD at Tubi, emphasised the emotional and cultural relevance of telenovelas.

“Telenovelas know no borders. And in Mexico, we know how deeply they resonate with emotions, heritage and identity. That’s why this alliance with Globo is so important: it adds powerful stories to Tubi’s catalogue, at a time when Mexicans are increasingly seeking free, high-quality content.”

Since entering the Mexican market in 2020, and subsequently expanding across Latin America in 2022, Tubi has experienced over 70% growth in total viewing time in Mexico, according to the company. Its current catalogue exceeds 40,000 movies and television episodes, spanning Hollywood productions, local content and now a significant slate of Brazilian drama.

This latest content expansion follows Tubi’s recent announcement of exclusive free-to-stream Liga MX matches, underscoring the platform’s continued investment in premium, ad-supported entertainment for audiences across Mexico and the wider Latin American region.

In related news, Globo has licensed streaming and pay TV rights to primetime drama Crazy About You to Polish pay TV channel Novelas+ in a deal brokered by Canal+ subsidiary Thema. The show will debut on the Canal+ sister channel in the second half of 2025 and the deal also includes International Emmy winner Orphans of a Nation.
