Frantic Films’ Stephanie Fast named head of production at Cineflix

Canada’s Cineflix has appointed veteran production exec Stephanie Fast as head of production ahead of the retirement of Sherri Ruth at the end of the year.

Fast, who was most recently the president at Winnipeg- and Toronto-based Frantic Films, will work across development, production, post-production and operational functions, in addition to helping grow Cineflix’s AI production unit and its slate of digital originals for YouTube and FAST channels.

She will work closely with Michael Kronish, who was recently appointed president of productions following the departure of JC Mills earlier in the year.

Fast previously spent 15 years with Frantic. Before being named president in 2022, she was VP of production and post-production. During her time at the company, she worked on projects including The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down, Still Standing, Baroness Von Sketch Show, Backyard Builds, Top Chef Canada and the Juno Awards.

“Stephanie brings extensive experience leading production teams, along with a proven track record of delivering premium content for major broadcasters and platforms,” said Kronish.

“As Cineflix continues to expand across traditional and digital media, her expertise, leadership and collaborative approach will be invaluable as we support our teams and pursue new opportunities across the business.”

He added that Ruth, who is executive VP of production and administration, had made an “outstanding contribution” to Cineflix over the past two decades.
