Fox lines up Marvel, McFarlane series

UPFRONTS: US broadcast network Fox will premiere the latest Marvel series, The Gifted, in Monday primetime this autumn while Seth McFarlane’s new series will follow Gotham on Thursdays.

The Gifted, from 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, was greenlit to series last week and has been given the 21.00 slot on Mondays in the Fall schedule announced today by Fox Television Group’s chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman.

Science fiction series The Orville, from Family Guy creator McFarlane and 20th Century Fox, is going straight into the Thursday line-up at 21.00 after Gotham, which has been renewed.

The third and final new commission included in the Fox schedule is Ghosted, another 20th Century Fox series. The single-cam action comedy features two unlikely partners charged with saving the Earth from aliens.

All of Fox’s other new shows will get mid-season starts, including medical drama The Resident; emergency response drama 9-1-1, from Glee and American Horror Story creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk; and comedy LA to Vegas from 20th Century Fox TV and Gary Sanchez Productions.

From exec producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay (The Big Short), Lon Zimmet (Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt) and Steve Levitan (Modern Family), LA to Vegas is a single-cam ensemble comedy about people who fly to Las Vegas every weekend to gamble.

The next chapter of event series The X-Files has also been slated for mid-season while two new live musicals, A Christmas Story and Rent, are planned for December and 2018 respectively.
