Fitness influencer title Poster Boy leads Jambika Docs’ Cannes line-up

Poster Boy: Becoming Zyzz was ordered by Aussie streamer Stan

Australian documentary Poster Boy: Becoming Zyzz heads Barcelona-based distributor Jambika Docs’ multi-genre factual slate for Mipcom next month.

Originally commissioned by Aussie streamer Stan, the 1×81’ film from director Selina Miles (Harley & Katya) traces how the late bodybuilder Aziz Shavershian became a fitness influencer on YouTube, foreshadowing the trend for looksmaxxing.

The roster also includes natural history film Giants of an Ancient Lake (1×44’/1×52’), SBS science series Our Future Planet: Sun, Wind & Water (3×52’/3×90’), Far from Home: Love, Courage & Tibet in Exile (1×90’/1×55′) and SVT commission Sisters of Kabul (1×58′).

Jambika also revealed recent sales deals, including Poland’s TVP acquiring an eight-title packaging featuring Loot: A Story of Crime & Redemption, Engineers at Ground Zero and Diary of an Elephant Orphan, while MENA streamer Shahid has licensed six titles and US broadcaster VME TV has taken five docs.

Mediawan in France, PTS in Taiwan, Plattelands TV in Belgium and worldwide streamer Gaia have all acquired Guided by Horses, while Loot: A Story of Crime & Redemption has also been picked up by South Korea’s EBS, and Our Planet, The People, My Blood has been taken by SBS/NITV in Australia.

Finally, EPF Media has acquired educational rights to The Colleano Heart, Open Wounds and Boutique: To Preserve & Collect, and Collective Eye has taken Uncommitted.
