Former Vice Media and A+E Networks CEO Nancy Dubuc has resurfaced at women’s sports media company Togethxr, where she has been named executive chair.

Dubuc will advise the team at the LA-based company, informing its brand strategy while serving as liaison to the firm’s investors and the board of directors.

Her remit includes supporting the next stage of Togethxr’s growth while continuing to serve as an active board member of public limited companies, including Flutter Entertainment, Webtoon Entertainment and Warner Music.

Dubuc stepped down as the boss of troubled Vice Media in February 2023, with the Canadian-American digital media outfit later filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May of that year. She had been named CEO in March 2018, replacing Vice co-founder Shane Smith, who became executive chairman.

Prior to that five-year tenure, Dubuc was president and CEO of A+E Networks, where she oversaw a strategic content strategy shift towards reality programming and formed a partnership with the National Women’s Soccer League in 2017.

Togethxr was co-founded by sports media veteran Jessica Robertson alongside athletes Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Simone Manuel and Sue Bird. The media and commerce platform specialises in branded sports products and has an in-house production studio that develops scripted and unscripted content.

Dubuc said: “I have spent my career working across all corners of the media industry, and I’m eager to devote this next phase of my professional life to a growth opportunity.

“Never one to shy away from a sports metaphor, business is a team sport, and I’m excited to join this remarkable group of athletes, executives and investors as we prove that investing in women’s sports is good business.”
