Reporting to creative director Ben Wicks, Grant is tasked with shepherding ideas and securing green lights. Her remit includes a focus on talent-led programming, reality, gameshows, factual entertainment and unscripted comedy.

She will work with the London-based company’s leadership team to identify strategic opportunities, build commissioner relationships and deliver commercially viable projects.

Grant will co-develop formats with Plegazoid, the creative studio run by format creator David Flynn. Last June, Expectation and Plegazoid struck a deal to create entertainment formats in the gameshow and reality space for UK networks and streamers.

Grant joins from unscripted indie prodco Mettlemouse Entertainment, where she served as director of development, securing green lights for shows such as The Honesty Box and Spencer Matthews: Am I a Psychopath?, both for Channel 4. Prior to that, she spent nine years at Hungry Bear Media.

London-based Expectation produces shows including The Dyers’ Caravan Park (Sky) Alan Carr: Castle Man (Hulu/Disney+) and Clarkson’s Farm (Prime Video).

Wicks said: “Katrina has an incredible track record of identifying talent and creating distinctive formats, helping to launch some of British television’s most successful entertainment and reality brands.

“As Expectation ramps up its formats and entertainment business, building on recent ratings hits and high-profile green lights for UK and international broadcasters and streamers – whilst doubling down on our talent-led projects – we’re thrilled to have someone of her prodigious talent joining to lead our fantastic development team to further success.”

Grant said: “Expectation has a brilliant reputation for developing bold, distinctive ideas, alongside working with some of the biggest talent in television.

“I’m excited to join the company at such a pivotal moment and look forward to building on that momentum, developing ideas with global potential and helping bring the next generation of stand-out entertainment brands to screen.”
