Endemol’s Deal comes to UK

Following its performances in 22 overseas markets, Endemol’s hit quiz Deal or No Deal is finally rolling into the UK, as a long-running series of daily one-hour shows coming out of Endemol UK’s Bristol outpost.

Channel 4’s commissioning editor Adam MacDonald has greenlit the show, due to premier in a late afternoon slot this autumn. The executive producer is Richard Hague. The format involves 26 contestants choosing suitcases, each carrying between one penny and £100k.

Tim Hincks, chief creative officer at Endemol UK, said: “The white knuckle tension of Deal or No Deal has captivated viewers all over the world. It’s great to see it coming to the UK and Channel 4.”

The format has previously aired in France, Germany, Argentina, Australia, the Middle East, Russia and Thailand (Channel 3), with productions in Canada, Colombia (Caracol), Bulgaria, Greece, Ukraine (ICTV), Tunisia (ERTT) and Indonesia (Bhakti Media) about to air, said Endemol.
