Electric Entertainment loans The Librarians to RTL Netherlands along with spin-offs

RTL Netherlands has acquired Electric Entertainment’s The Librarians

CONTENT WARSAW: RTL Netherlands has acquired fantasy franchise The Librarians from LA-based production and distribution company Electric Entertainment, including seasons of its spin-off series.

RTL Netherlands will have broadcast, SVoD, AVoD, TVoD and free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) rights to a package of approximately 72 hours of Librarians-related programming in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

This includes all four seasons of the original The Librarians series, as well as two seasons from spin-off The Librarians: The Next Chapter and two of three movies of the week: The Librarian: Return to King Solomon’s Mines and The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice.

The original Librarians series aired on TNT in the US between 2014 and 2018 and followed the adventures of the custodians of a magical repository of the world’s most powerful and dangerous supernatural artifacts.

Produced by Electric Entertainment and The CW, The Librarians: The Next Chapter centred on a ‘Librarian’ from the past, who time-travelled to the present and now finds himself stuck here.

The deal, announced this week at C21’s Content Warsaw, was negotiated by Sonia Mehandjiyska, head of international distribution at Electric Entertainment, with Perry Stritzko for RTL Netherlands.
