Ecuador’s Teleamazonas appoints ex-Venevisión exec Andrés Badra as CEO

Ecuadorian channel Teleamazonas has hired Andrés Badra, formerly of Venevisión in Venezuela and Latina in Peru, as its new CEO.

Andrés Badra

Badra was most recently VP and general manager at Venevisión Media, which he joined in 2022.

He has extensive experience in the media industry, with a track record of successfully leading change and transformation processes at companies in Panama and Peru.

Badra said on LinkedIn: “I will take on the challenge at Teleamazonas with great respect for its history and the dedication of its owner to keeping alive the hope of generating value for Ecuadorian society. I will arrive with the conviction that great transformations begin by first understanding what is worth preserving.”

The exec noted that his priorities include moving towards a financially sustainable business model, accelerating digital transformation, developing new revenue streams, strengthening Teleamazonas’ ability to produce relevant content that connects with audiences across all platforms, and building a culture of execution, innovation and excellence.

“All of this while preserving a fundamental asset of Teleamazonas: its independence, plurality and commitment to Ecuador,” he added.

“The challenge is to build a media company prepared to compete in the 21st century, capable of integrating television, news, entertainment, sports and digital platforms within a sustainable ecosystem that is relevant to its audiences.”
