Dynamic Television, Screen Oz back Brouhaha’s psychological thriller Dr Trauma

Sarah Bailey and Troy Lum

US-based Dynamic Television and Screen Australia have selected psychological thriller and medical drama Dr Trauma as the latest recipient of funding under their joint Dynamic Television Scripted Initiative.

Carrie Stein

The series, from Sydney-based Brouhaha Entertainment (Boy Swallows Universe), is produced by Troy Lum (Lee) and written by bestselling author Sarah Bailey.

The project will receive A$50,000 (US$35,000) from each partner to support the next stage of its development, as well as global insights from Dynamic Television.

Dr Trauma centres on a quantum psychologist who is approached by a desperate mother whose daughter begins experiencing terrifying nightmares and visions after receiving a heart transplant from a murder victim.

Carrie Stein, president of global scripted at Dynamic Television, said: “Dr Trauma explores a lead character we haven’t yet seen on television and the crime stories we hope to explore in the series are deeply emotional and complex. We’ve long been admirers of the team at Brouhaha and are excited to be partnering with them in developing this show with the talented Sarah Bailey.”

The Dynamic Television Scripted Initiative is a collaboration between Screen Australia and Dynamic Television designed to support Australian scripted projects with potential for global success. Dr Trauma follows previous initiative beneficiaries How to Kill a Client and Dark Mode.
