Dutch pubcaster NPO acquires Jonnydepony’s Flemish dramedy Boho

Boho centres on three 30-somethings as they navigate life in Antwerp

Public broadcaster NPO in the Netherlands has picked up the rights to Flemish comedy-drama Boho, produced by Jonnydepony.

The six-part series, an original for Belgian streamer Streamz, will air on NPO’s BNNVARA channel, marking the first time it has been sold abroad.

Banijay Rights, the global sales and distribution arm of Banijay Entertainment, sells the project internationally, while Jonnydepony sits within the Banijay Benelux group.

Created by Abbie Boutkabout, the series is described as a “heartfelt ode to female solidarity.” It follows a trio of 30-somethings as they navigate life in Borgerhout, one of Antwerp’s most eclectic and culturally rich neighbourhoods. Ikram Aoulad, Serine Ayari and hip-hop artist Miss Angel play the lead roles.

Boutkabout wrote the series alongside Zita Theunynck (De Club, Arcadia) and Philippe De Schepper (De Big Fuck-up, Eigen Kweek), with Olympia Allaert (Season of Sex, Panna) directing.
