World War Shoe: Adidas vs Puma (working title) is a three-part documentary series from Studio 99 and Boat Rocker-owned Matador Content (Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields) that explores the inner workings of two of the biggest sporting brands in the world.

The two companies have a unique shared history and rivalry, having been set up by two feuding brothers – Adi and Rudi Dassler – whose multi-decade rivalry and competition helped shape the modern sportswear industry.

As well as contributions from sports stars, the series will also feature some of the biggest names in fashion, including June Ambrose and KidSuper.

The commission was announced ahead of the Disney+ session at the Edinburgh TV Festival (ETVF) today, where execs from The Walt Disney Company EMEA discussed the streamer’s commissioning strategy in the UK.

Disney+ has confirmed that some of the world’s biggest music acts are set to appear in the upcoming documentary series Camden, produced by Lightbox in association with Day One Pictures and pop star Dua Lipa’s production company Radical22.

Confirmed to feature in the series alongside Lipa are Chris Martin, Pete Doherty, Mark Ronson, Questlove, Little Simz, Nile Rodgers, Boy George, Yungblud, Black Eyed Peas, Jazzie B, Bob Vylan, Chuck D and Sister Bliss. The series director is Asif Kapadia and the episode directors are Toby Trackman, Yemi Bamiro and co-director Sarah Lambert.

Disney+ has also revealed the first round of contributors to feature in fashion series In Vogue, which is set to include insights from Victoria Beckham, Tom Ford, Kim Kardashian, Marc Jacobs, Baz Luhrmann, Amber Valetta, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hillary Clinton, Stella McCartney, Clare Danes, Elizabeth Hurley and Tyson Beckford. The series is coproduced by Raw and Vogue Studios/Condé Nast Entertainment.

The streamer is also gearing up to release docuseries Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, a four-parter fronted by Hollywood star Keanu Reeves, and Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, which was announced at the ETVF last year.

Sean Doyle, director of unscripted at Disney+, EMEA, said: “We’ve spent the past year making ambitious documentaries with exclusive access to A-list names with the best creative talent in the business.

“It’s been great to see the reactions to Finding Michael and Save Our Squad with David Beckham, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what else we’ve been up to and discover stories they may not expect to see on Disney+.”
