Disney+ and Hulu greenlight Glee reboot from Ryan Murphy, 20th Television

Glee ran for six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015

Disney+ and Hulu have ordered a new season of the musical comedy-drama Glee, reviving the series more than 11 years after it ended its six-season run on Fox.

The reboot will be produced by 20th Television, which also made the original series, with co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan also behind the new version.

No casting details or premiere date have been announced. Murphy said last month that he had been speaking to around 10 members of the original cast about a possible return, although no talent has been confirmed for the new series.

Glee ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, following the members of a high school glee club in Lima, Ohio.

The series featured Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer and Amber Riley, among others, and won six Primetime Emmy Awards.

All 121 episodes of the original series currently stream on Hulu in the US.
