DCD Rights expands CEE presence with drama sales in Hungary, Poland

My Life is Murder is produced with assistance from the NZ Government’s Screen Production Rebate

CONTENT WARSAW: UK-based distributor DCD Rights has strengthened its foothold in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with the sale of more than 100 hours of drama content across multiple territories, signalling continued appetite for high-quality international programming in the region.

The sales activity, announced during Content Warsaw this week, demonstrates the distributor’s strategic focus on the CEE market as broadcasters seek proven, evergreen content to satisfy audience demand for compelling drama.

Hungarian broadcaster Profour has acquired the fifth season of the long-running investigative drama My Life is Murder across Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The series stars award-winning actress Lucy Lawless, known for her roles in Top of the Lake, Spartacus and Xena: Warrior Princess.

The rollout of My Life is Murder across CEE has expanded further with BBC Studios acquiring the first four seasons for the Polish market, while TV3 Group has secured the same content for Latvia.

Polish streaming service CDA Premium has acquired a package totalling 28 hours of content, centred around the psychological thriller The Secrets She Keeps. The package includes both seasons of the drama, which features Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey) and Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door).

James Anderson, senior sales manager at DCD Rights, emphasised the enduring appeal of the company’s drama portfolio. “These returning dramas are extremely popular with audiences around the world and we’re delighted that further broadcasters across the CEE region are acquiring such well-produced and evergreen series for their viewers to enjoy,” he said.

My Life is Murder is produced by Greenstone Pictures for TVNZ, Acorn TV and DCD Rights with assistance from the New Zealand Government’s Screen Production Rebate. Based on Michael Robotham’s novel, The Secrets She Keeps is produced by Lingo Pictures Production for Paramount Plus with funding from Screen Australia and Screen NSW.
