Mike Cosentino launches Canadian consultancy outfit with Fremantle deal

Former Bell Media executive Mike Cosentino has launched Canadian consultation company CosMediaInc and signed a distribution deal with RTL-owned Fremantle.

CosMediaInc, which provides production, distribution, content and consulting expertise, was founded this spring by Cosentino, former president of content and programming at Bell Media. Cosentino left Bell Media in January as part of what it called a “streamlining” as it focuses on its on-demand service Crave TV amid rising competition from streamers.

During his more-than-two-decade career at Bell Media, Cosentino worked on titles including Letterkenny (Hulu), Transplant (NBC/Sky/Globoplay), Cardinal (BBC/Hulu) and Holmes Family Effect (Fox/Tubi).

Following the launch of CosMediaInc, Cosentino has partnered with Fremantle to source, support and deliver Canadian productions to global audiences.

Under the deal, Cosentino will work with Fremantle to maximise the production and distribution giant’s mandate to partner with scripted and non-scripted Canadian producers with international ambitions.

Michela DiMondo, executive VP of distribution and sales at Fremantle, said: “Canada is home to some of the world’s foremost producers. With his exceptional production relationships, Cosentino is well-positioned to support our vision to partner with Canadian producers to deliver their amazing content to an international audience. Excited to be working together.”

Cosentino, MD of CosMediaInc, said: “Fremantle is a global expert and leader in distribution and some of the world’s most popular programming comes from our own back yard. I welcome the opportunity to work with Michela and the Fremantle team to support their vision and investment in local producers to put great Canadian programming on the global stage.”
