CBC and Sky NZ jump into frog animation copro for preschoolers with Blue Ant Studios, Stretchy

Canada’s CBC and Sky in New Zealand have commissioned Tralala, a preschool animated show following a frog and her family.

Tralala will be delivered in 2026

The 52x’7 series, a Canada/New Zealand copro, is produced by Toronto-based Blue Ant Studios and New Zealand animation studio Stretchy, with the two companies sharing the animation work.

The project is created, written and directed by Harry Sinclair, who also wrote and directed the stop-motion preschool series Kiri & Lou.

The series is slated for delivery in 2026, with international distribution rightsholder Blue Ant Studios introducing the project to potential partners at Kidscreen this week.

Tralala follows an inventive seven-year-old frog who lives an idyllic life with her father in their cozy blue country cottage, where commonplace domestic events unfurl into whimsical, imaginative adventures and sing-a-longs.

The production team includes Antony Elworthy (Kiri & Lou, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), while Julianna Cox (Coraline, Creature Comforts, Shaun the Sheep) serves as animation director.

Mark Bishop, Matthew Hornburg, Diane Rankin, AJ Trauth and Donna Luke are executive producers for Blue Ant Studios.
