Canada’s Sphere Media dreams up ‘young young adult’ series Dreamers

A supernatural/coming-of-age series will be the first scripted project to come out of Montreal- and Toronto-based production group Sphere Media’s kids and family division.

Dreamers (8×30’), created by Lisa Rose Snow, is described as a “young young adult” project with teenage protagonists and is aimed at viewers aged 10+. It has been supported by the Bell Slate Fund, a not-for-profit programme which supports Canadian prodcos in building and diversifying their slates.

In related news, Sphere Media and Northern Irish prodco Flickerpix have been awarded funds from the CMF Canada-Northern Ireland Coproduction Incentive to develop Mort & Millie, a preschool animated series.

Created by Taylor Annisette, it follows the adventures of Mort, an excitable ‘Grim Sweeper’ and his sidekick Millie, a fearless millipede. Both projects will be shopped to buyers at Mipcom.
