Canada’s Corus Entertainment rebrands Teletoon, Cartoon Network

Total DramaRama will air on the new Cartoon Network

Canada’s Corus Entertainment is rebranding two of its children’s networks as it looks to realign its portfolio of youth-skewing brands.

Teletoon, the long-running English-language children’s TV network, is being rebranded as Cartoon Network across both linear and streaming.

The rebranded channel will carry new series from Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros Animation and Corus-owned studio Nelvana, including Total DramaRama, The Amazing World of Gumball and DC Super Hero Girls.

At the same time, Corus is rebranding the existing Canadian version of Cartoon Network as Boomerang. The channel will carry retro content and classic animated series, including The Tom & Jerry Show, The Powerpuff Girls, Jellystone and Total Drama Island.

The channel rebrands, which will both go live on March 27, come almost six months after Corus launched its kids-focused streaming product Teletoon+.

“The combination of Cartoon Network and Boomerang delivers the best in fun and exciting animated series mixed with a robust video-on-demand offering for young kids and tweens alike,” said Drew Robinson, VP of content distribution at Corus Entertainment.

“We’re excited for subscribers to join us on our adventure as Corus continues to expand our streaming and pay TV footprint with Teletoon+ and [streaming product] StackTV, building upon our dynamic portfolio of industry-leading kids’ channels for the whole family.”
