Cameras roll on Netflix drama based on life of Italian pornstar Rocco Siffredi

Supersex stars Alessandro Borghi as Rocco Siffredi

Production is underway on Netflix’s new Italian series Supersex (7×60’), produced by Fremantle-owned The Apartment and Groenlandia, part of the Banijay Group of production companies.

The show, being shot in Rome, is inspired by the life of Italian pornstar Rocco Siffredi, and will be available on Netflix in 190 countries around the world in 2023.

Created and written by Francesca Manieri, the series is directed by Matteo Rovere, Francesco Carrozzini and Francesca Mazzoleni. Alessandro Borghi plays Siffredi and the series also stars Jasmine Trinca, Adriano Giannini and Saul Nanni, the latter playing Siffredi as a young man.

“Supersex is the story of a man who takes seven episodes and 350 minutes to say ‘I love you’, to accept that the demon in his body is compatible with love. To do this, he must expose the only part of him that we have never seen: his soul,” said Manieri.

She added that this asks “what does it mean to be a male? Are we still able to reconcile sexuality and affectivity? These are the questions that, like a kaleidoscope, open up before us as we immerse ourselves in his incredible life until we lose our breath.”
