C4 replaces Bake Off companion show An Extra Slice with Second Helpings

UK public service broadcaster Channel 4 is replacing The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, its companion show to The Great British Bake Off, after 12 years with a new spin-off called Second Helpings.

Second Helpings will launch alongside the next season of Bake Off, which begins this month, airing weekly on the same night as the main series.

It will be hosted by comedians Jon Richardson and Judi Love, who replace Extra Slice hosts Jo Brand and Tom Allen. Airing since 2014, Extra Slice has been a companion show to the main Bake Off series since its fifth season, when it still aired on the BBC.

Second Helpings will be produced by Love Productions, which produced Extra Slice and produces the main Bake Off series.

Vivienne Molokwu, Channel 4’s senior commissioning editor, said: “We have revamped Extra Slice by giving it a brand-new shape and a brand-new home. Second Helpings will be available on the same night as Bake Off, meaning viewers don’t have to wait long to chew over what’s gone down in the tent. With the deliciously funny Jon and Judi at the helm we’ll all have a hilarious time talking all things sweet treats.”
