Brazil’s Globo signs largest content deal so far with Netflix

Brazilian broadcaster Globo and Netflix have reached a content licensing agreement that calls for the addition of 18 Brazilian productions from the São Paulo-based group to the streaming platform starting in December.

Described by both companies as “unprecedented,” this is thought to be the largest content agreement to-date between Globo and Netflix.

The package includes soap operas such as Caminho das Índias, films such as the Oscar-winning Ainda Estou Aqui (I’m Still Here) and comedies such as Vai Que Cola, which will be gradually added to the Netflix catalogue through mid-2027.

“We hope this agreement is just the first step in a long-term partnership between two companies that share ambition, creative excellence, and a commitment to taking Brazilian culture even further,” said Elisabetta Zenatti, VP of content at Netflix Brazil.

Pedro Garcia, Globo’s director of rights acquisition, highlighted the international reach of the partnership: “For decades, we have been dedicated to bringing the richness of our culture to the world. By combining that experience with Netflix’s global reach, we are taking another step toward bringing Brazilian creativity to new audiences, expanding its presence and strengthening the recognition of Brazilian audiovisual content abroad,” he said.
