Paramount Global-owned network and studio BET Media Group has agreed a new multi-year deal with Tyler Perry and renewed eight original series produced by the media mogul’s production company.

Through the new deal, Perry will produce and deliver “hundreds” of episodes to the BET cable channel and streamer BET+ in the US across existing and new shows.

Perry produced more than 700 episodes under the previous agreement, which had been due to expire this year.

Shows renewed by BET include Tyler Perry’s Sistas (season eight) and Tyler Perry’s The Oval (season six), while BET+ renewed Tyler Perry’s Ruthless and All The Queen’s Men. In addition, BET greenlit a new series, Route 187, under the extended pact.

Perry’s deal with BET runs alongside his multi-year first-look film deal with Netflix. https://www.c21media.net/news/netflix-extends-filmmaker-tyler-perry-relationship-with-first-look-series-pact/

“Tyler Perry is simply without rival as a creator of content that powerfully resonates with audiences across genres, formats, and platforms,” said BET Media Group president and CEO Scott Mills.
