Bandicoot Scotland partners vet firm to land first AFP with ITV’s Joy of Pets

Scottish indie production company Bandicoot Scotland, a joint venture between Argonon and Bandicoot (The Masked Singer UK), has unveiled The Joy of Pets, a series for ITV made in association with UK veterinarian company Inspiring Vet Care.

The 5×60’ series marks Bandicoot’s first advertiser-funded programme (AFP) and emerges from a deal brokered by London-based brand strategy agency Bountiful Cow.

Hosted by presenter and animal advocate Gaby Roslin alongside vet Dr Bolu Eso, The Joy of Pets sets out to celebrate the UK’s love of pets. Roslin and Dr Eso travel the UK to explore the bond between animals and their owners, hearing stories of loyalty and companionship, meeting animals that have saved lives and gathering advice from vets for pet owners.

Bandicoot creative director Daniel Nettleton and MD Derek McLean said in a joint statement: “This series offers enchanting animals, endearing stories and an emotional tug on the heartstrings, in a joyful celebration of all the things we love about our faithful companions. ITV and Inspiring Vet Care are the perfect partners for Bandicoot’s first ever AFP.”

Leanne Clarke, assistant commissioner for daytime and entertainment at ITV, said the show “will welcome adorable pets, unforgettable stories and uplifting adventures that celebrate the happiness animals bring into our lives. Warm, friendly and full of heart, this is a show we can all enjoy.”

The Joy of Pets is executive produced by Nettleton, McLean and Denis O’Connor for Bandicoot Scotland, and commissioned by Clarke for ITV. Broadcast and streaming dates will be confirmed nearer launch.

Bandicoot Scotland, founded in 2017 by McLean and Nettleton in a joint venture with Argonon, also produces The Masked Singer UK and The Masked Dancer, two seasons of which have aired on ITV.
