Wataha, known in English as The Pack, was HBO’s first original Polish drama – a 2015 series likened to a local equivalent of The Sopranos and set among the world of guards on the Poland-Ukraine border.

For co-writer Wiktor Piatkowski, the show was also his first and a turning point, both personally and for Poland, with the title picked up by broadcasters around the globe and paving the way for others.

Piatkowski subsequently set up Bahama Films, his own scriptwriting enterprise now staffed by more than 30 scribes, and has since worked as showrunner, head writer, screenwriter and producer on a string of films and programmes, including Viaplay’s first Polish original and the first copro between Canal+ and Polsat.

Piatkowski spoke with Louise Bateman about these experiences, the present state of the Polish TV market and why it’s primed for more international collaborations.

C21FM is live 24/7, with a block of interviews starting at 10am BST every day HERE.
