Alberto Carullo leaves WBD after 10 months to join Mediaset Spain

Madrid-based Italian executive Alberto Carullo is leaving Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) after 10 months to join Mediaset Spain as general manager of content.

From January 2025, he will replace Manuel Villanueva, who spent 22 years as head of the content division of Mediaset Spain.

The appointment will mark the start of “a new era in the strategy and planning of television and digital media” for the group led by Alessandro Salem.

The news comes less than a year after Carullo joined WBD as VP of local original production for Italy and Iberia at Max.

He had previously spent a year as head of drama for Spain and Portugal at Warner Bros International Television Production.

With more than three decades of experience in the media industry, production and content management in Spain and Italy, Carullo will return to Mediaset Spain, having been with Telecinco between 2002 and 2008.

During this period, he promoted the growth of the network’s own production in fiction and entertainment, with titles such as Motivos personales, Los Serrano, Aída, Supervivientes, Operación Triunfo and Caiga quien caer.

During his career, Carullo also held senior positions of in production companies such as Big Bang Media and Boca Boca.
