3D first for Alphanim

Paris-based animation house Alphanim is developing its first 3D project, Hairy Scary (pictured). With delivery scheduled for the Cartoon Forum next month, the three-minute pilot is set in an underground world populated solely by hirsute creatures and bald creatures.

The project has been co-developed with Sweden's Happy Life and produced by Hong Kong's Menfond, the outfit behind the special effects for hit movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Meanwhile, Australia's Nine Network is set to debut Alphanim's new 2D animation series Cosmic Cowboys, coproduced with France3, German producer Telepool and broadcaster WDR.

Airing later this month in Nine's Junior TV block, Cosmic Cowboys (52×13') features a pair of intergalactic bounty hunters and their arch rival, Cereal Bob.

The series was created by Jan Van Rijsselberge for the 8-12 audience. So far Rai Italy and Vrak TV Canada have picked up the series.

Along with the launch of a video label in association with StudioCanal Video, Alphanim is also in talks to develop content for mobile phone operators.
