BBC Children’s reveals slate of commissions for CBBC, CBeebies

Climate Change & Me: Future Council

BBC Children’s and Education in the UK has revealed a slate of new commissions for CBBC and CBeebies, including a courtroom-based comedy entertainment format hosted by CBBC puppet character Hacker T Dog and a documentary in which a group of kids explore solutions to the climate crisis.

Produced and distributed by DLT Entertainment UK, Judge Hacker (15×4′) is a show in which children and adults seek justice for the everyday “crimes” that normally go unpunished. Hacker T Dog, performed by Phil Fletcher, presides over cases alongside two lawyers and hands out verdicts and punishments, while games and celebrity guests also feature. The show will launch on CBBC in early 2027.

Climate Change & Me: Future Council is an “inspiring and humorous” film from director Damon Gameau that follows eight children as they explore solutions to the climate crisis and challenge some of the world’s biggest companies to do better. Produced by Together Films, it premieres on CBBC on November 9.

Coming to CBBC in late 2027 is animated action-comedy superhero series Hyperlight – Battle of the Guardians (26×22′). Set in a parallel digital world, the series follows two teenagers drawn into a battle against hackers, viruses and a sinister entity threatening the city. Aimed at a tween audience, it is produced by A Productions, with Scrawl Animation as production partner. Germany’s Super RTL has pre-bought the series, which is being distributed by Banijay Kids and Family.

Renewals for CBBC include season eight of Steve Backshall’s wildlife series Deadly 60 and season 12 of Lion TV’s sketch comedy Horrible Histories. Season three of Gladiators: Epic Pranks, the spin-off from primetime competition format Gladiators, also returns. Made by Hungry Bear TV Media, it includes Halloween and Christmas specials, behind-the-scenes action at Sheffield Arena and three watch-along episodes.

Commissioned for CBeebies is Animal Allsorts (30×5′), an animated series from Glasgow-based Maramedia adapted from the books of artist Owen Davey. It taps into young children’s love of collecting and sorting animals and is due to launch in 2028.

Recommissions for CBeebies include season two (52×7′) of Turnip & Duck’s animated series Maddie & Triggs, due to premiere in mid-2027, while Tiny Tunes will return later this year with a 10×5′ run of Christmas episodes. Tiny Tunes brings songs to life for deaf and hearing children, who sing and sign together using British Sign Language.

Previously announced recommissions for CBeebies include season two of Jam Media’s animated preschool series BeddyByes and season three of Strike’s live-action series Football Fantastics (10×15′), returning in spring and summer 2027 respectively.
