Love & Anarchy breaks out at Netflix

Global streamer Netflix has picked up romantic dramedy Love & Anarchy from SF Studios-backed Swedish prodco FLX.

Screenwriter Lisa Langseth (Euphoria) will write and direct the eight-part series. FLX is best known for producing Quicksand, which also aired on Netflix.

Love & Anarchy follows a career-driven married mother of two who meets a young IT tech and their flirting game escalates. Fatima Varhos and Frida Asp will produce the series for FLX alongside executive producers Pontus Edgren and Martina Håkansson.

“We instantly fell in love with this female-led project. Not only does the story follow a strong female character, we are also happy to team up with the talented Lisa Langseth and continue the great collaboration with FLX,” said Tesha Crawford, director of international originals at Netflix Northern Europe.

Along with Quicksand, FLX has also produced TV drama Bonus Family for pubcaster SVT and the feature film The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window & Disappeared.

In May, Bonnier-owned Scandinavian producer and distributor SF Studios bought a majority stake in FLX.

In related news, Netflix this week ordered a series titled The Girls on the Bus from Berlanti Productions and My So-Called Company, in association with Warner Bros Television.

The show is based on a chapter of Amy Chozick’s best-selling book Chasing Hillary, chronicling four female journalists who follow a parade of flawed presidential candidates, finding friendship, love and scandal.

Greg Berlanti (Political Animals, Arrow) and Sarah Schechter (You, Everwood) are the exec producers while Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) and Chozick are exec producers/writers.
