Int’l nets feast on Five Guys

Five Guys a Week was first made for Channel 4

MIPCOM: Broadcasters in the Netherlands and Sweden have picked up a recently launched Fremantle dating format in which a single woman lives with five men for a week.

Dutch net RTL4 and Sweden’s TV4 will produce local versions of Five Guys a Week, which was created by Label1 for Channel 4 in the UK.

In the show, the single woman chooses five men to move into her house for a week. One man is eliminated each morning, with the last man standing becoming her boyfriend.

A commission in France is set to be announced soon, Fremantle added. The RTL-owned production and distribution giant took a minority stake in UK factual indie Label1 in 2017.

Commercially funded UK pubcaster Channel 4 commissioned the show earlier this year.

“The format has an authentic premise and taps into the universal theme of people’s desire to find lasting love. This is fantastic storytelling built around a simple structure that we’re confident audiences around the world will find compelling and highly entertaining,” said Rob Clark, director of global entertainment at Fremantle.

Fremantle is here in Cannes at Mipcom this week with a slate of formats including Epic Gameshow, Rolling in It and The Family Brain Games.
