Fox lines up Korean format night

Fox’s I Can See Your Voice is fronted by Ken Jeong

US broadcast network Fox will launch its new unscripted series I Can See Your Voice, based on CJ ENM’s music format, next month, leading out of The Masked Singer.

Hosted and executive produced by The Masked Singer panellist Ken Jeong, I Can See Your Voice will debut on September 23 following the season four premiere of The Masked Singer, another South Korean import.

Each week on I Can See Your Voice, one contestant has the chance to win a cash prize if they can tell the different between the good and bad singers, without ever hearing them sing a note.

Helping the contestant navigate rounds of lip sync challenges, hidden clues and true or false evidence is a panel of celebrity comedians and experts.

The US version will feature Jeong alongside actress, comedian and director Cheryl Hines and television host and vocalist Adrienne Bailon-Houghton.

It is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment, while James McKinlay, Craig Plestis and Jeong serve as executive producers.

“Safely filming I Can See Your Voice this summer was a win in itself, but when we saw the pure magic of the show and felt the palpable suspense in the room before that first note hit, we knew we had to share it with audiences this season,” said Rob Wade, president, alternative entertainment and specials at Fox Entertainment.

“It’s no secret that viewers need a little fun and escape now and, as a companion to an all-new season of The Masked Singer, this will be a fantastic night of family entertainment – and a fantastic night of Ken Jeong.”

The format first aired on CJ ENM in 2015 and was picked up by Fox in February. It has since become mired in a copycat row between CJ ENM and Turkish distributor Global Agency over its singing show Is That Really Your Voice?
