Family Channel in Canada has picked up new seasons of dramas Lockdown and Just Add Magic from Sinking Ship Entertainment as it targets a co-viewing audience.
A new run of Lockdown launches this month and Just Add Magic’s new episodes debut in January on the WildBrain Television-owned network following deals with Toronto-based producer and distributor Sinking Ship.
YouTube original Lockdown launched on the Google-owned platform earlier in the pandemic and its second season of six episodes follows days 60 to 120 of the Covid-19 pandemic.
After one character organises a Black Lives Matter march in their community, accusations fly when a family restaurant is spray painted with graffiti and a chilling message.
When a creepy hooded figure, calling themselves Question Mark Face, takes credit in a threatening video, the teens are forced to work together to unmask them before their next attack.
Amazon Prime’s Just Add Magic: Mystery City, meanwhile, follows the magic cookbook as it unlocks a centuries-old mystery that takes its protectors on an historical adventure through the Bay City streets in a race to find a secret recipe.
“At Family Channel, we know just how important it is to provide kids and families with new and exciting, high-quality content, especially during these challenging times,” said Katie Wilson, VP channels and curation at WildBrain.
Wilson added the two shows are part of a line-up designed to offer “entertainment that the whole family can look forward to watching together.”
