Substack, Fawkes Digital and National Theatre to reveal direct-to-audience strategies for success at Content London

Substack’s Rosie Gee, Fawkes Digital’s Lucy Smith and the National Theatre’s Matt Risley will be at Content London to discuss ways to unlock new revenue streams by taking content directly to consumers.

Gee is head of entertainment, UK, for new-media platform Substack, helping creators and podcasters build and monetise their audiences through direct subscriptions. She has previously worked with top creators at TikTok, as well as in influencer marketing at BBC Studios.

Lucy Smith
Creative director and founder
Fawkes Digital
Smith is creative director and founder of Fawkes Digital, an IP studio developing, producing and exploiting original digital-first entertainment formats for brands, creators and digital broadcasters.
Hosted by ambitious online creators, Fawkes’ shows are devised as IP universes, allowing brands and creators to test and iterate formats quickly and exploit them in pioneering ways. Recent hits include Baddest in the World (4.0), CEOs Go Wild (LinkedIn), Korea Ladder (Korean Tourism Board), Campus Clash (Currys), Steam Queens (Russell Hobbs), Texture Talks (Garnier) and Spin the Dish (Good Food).
Prior to launching Fawkes, Smith developed factual entertainment formats at Wise Owl Films, MultiStory Media, Firecracker and Betty, securing commissions from Netflix, the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. She is co-founder of The New Monday, a creative community in the North.

Matt Risley

At the National Theatre, Risley is responsible for all digital production and commissioning, global distribution across streaming, TV, cinema and YouTube, and revenue generation relating to filmed content.
The department is at the heart of the NT’s ambition to democratise theatre and drive accessibility to world-class content wherever audiences are spending their time.
Risley was previously MD of 4Studio, Channel 4’s in-house digital agency, which pioneered how UK broadcasters engage with YouTube, social, creators and younger audiences. He has also led digital transformation in roles at MTV, Future Publishing and Sky.
