BBC content chiefs to reveal future programming vision at Content London

The BBC’s Kate Phillips, chief content officer, and Fiona Campbell, director of factual television, will outline their priorities for the future of the pubcaster’s programming at Content London, detailing their evolving content strategies and new opportunities for collaboration.

Phillips is the creative lead across the BBC’s key genres and portfolios, shaping and delivering strategy across all platforms, while Campbell oversees a broad factual portfolio spanning documentaries, arts and specialist factual programming.

Speaking as part of the Content Strategies track, where the most active international buyers and commissioners outline their future programming plans – shining a spotlight on real opportunity – the leading BBC content executives will discuss their individual remits and areas for collaboration.

Content London is designed to provide delegates with the most effective strategies to master The New Content Economy, which includes a focus across scripted and unscripted content opportunities, international coproduction, global content funding, new trends in FAST and tips to pivot to a digital-first strategy.

Phillips is the senior executive responsible for all the BBC’s TV and radio output. She oversees commissioning for all its national TV channels and BBC iPlayer, as well as commissioning and production for all 10 national radio networks and for BBC Sounds. Phillips also oversees commissioning and production for all children’s and education content. She is the creative lead for all of the BBC’s key genres and portfolios, developing and delivering a strategy across all platforms, as well as identifying and developing new content and setting an editorial strategy that reflects the diversity of the BBC’s audiences.

Campbell’s wide-ranging remit encompasses all factual programming, including documentaries, arts and specialist factual. The documentary slate ranges from Murder 24/7, Ambulance and Sort Your Life Out to the international feature documentary strand Storyville, which won an Oscar in 2026 for Mr Nobody Against Putin. Specialist factual is responsible for history, science, religion and natural history output, covering a broad range of programmes including Digging for Britain, Lucy Worsley’s Victorian Murder Club and Michael Jackson: An American Tragedy, as well as the BBC’s award-winning natural history content such as Hamza’s Hidden Wild Isles and Attenborough’s Blue Planet. Previously, Campbell was controller of youth audiences for BBC iPlayer and digital director for BBC News, where she developed the BBC News presence on third-party platforms such as Apple News and Jio in India.
