CBS polices Falco drama

UPFRONTS: CBS in the US has added an Edie Falco-starring drama about the first woman to be chief of police for LA to its scripted roster while pulling the plug on four comedies.

Tommy sees Falco (The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie) play a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first woman chief of police for LA and uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to navigate social, political, and national security issues.

The show is produced by Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios and joins the three dramas the Eye network ordered last week.

Having also added four new comedies to its 2019/20 line-up, CBS has brought the curtain down on its existing comedies Fam, Happy Together, Life in Pieces and Murphy Brown. Meanwhile, Man With a Plan, its Matt LeBlanc-led comedy, has been renewed for a fourth season.
