CBS adds seven to scripted line-up

CBS’s drama renewals include SEAL Team

CBS in the US has ordered three dramas and four comedies to series while renewing eight of its existing shows.

Among the three dramas picked up to series is All Rise, which comes from CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros Television and follows those seeking justice for the people of LA through a flawed legal system.

Evil, meanwhile, is a psychological mystery series that focuses on a sceptical forensic psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter to investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions and unexplained phenomena. It comes from CBS Television Studios and King Size Productions.

From CBS Television Studios, Universal Television and Wolf Films, FBI: Most Wanted follows the Fugitive Task Force of the FBI, which tracks and captures notorious criminals on the bureau’s most wanted list.

Among the multi-camera comedies are Bob (Hearts) Abishola, which follows a middle-aged businessman who, after having a heart attack, unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, a Nigerian immigrant. It comes from Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

The other three shows are multi-camera sitcom Broke, about a man from a wealthy background whose family must move in with his estranged sister; Carol’s Second Act, a multi-camera sitcom about a woman who pursues her dream of becoming a doctor; and single-camera show The Unicorn, about a tight-knit group of friends and family who help a widower.

Meanwhile, CBS has renewed six dramas for 2019/20: SEAL Team, S.W.A.T., Madam Secretary, Bull, Hawaii Five-0 and MacGyver, alongside news series 60 Minutes and 48 Hours.
