Stranger Things live-action prequel series set for Netflix in 2028

Stranger Things concluded with its fifth season

Netflix has commissioned a live-action spin-off from its hit original series Stranger Things, with creators the Duffer Brothers again on board.

Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure is being produced by 21 Laps Entertainment and is set to debut in 2028.

The show comes from the Duffer Brothers, who created the original series, and Kate Trefry. A prequel to both Stranger Things and stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, it will be set in the 1950s. The first three episodes will be directed by Joe Wright, with Trefry serving as showrunner.

Announcing the series on the morning of the designated Stranger Things Day (November 6), Jinny Howe, Netflix head of scripted series in the US and Canada, said: “Stranger Things has always belonged to the fans, and their passion made it a worldwide phenomenon. Today, on Stranger Things Day, we’re honoured to partner again with Matt and Ross Duffer and Kate Trefry to give fans a new dimension of this universe to step into.”

The original Stranger Things debuted in 2016 and concluded with its fifth and final season last year.
