Korea’s SLL expands Thai footprint with local version of K-drama Itaewon Class

K-drama series Itaewon Class

South Korean content studio SLL (Reborn Rich) has secured a remake deal with Thai production company and talent agency GMMTV to adapt K-drama series Itaewon Class for Thai audiences.

The announcement was made at GMMTV’s annual event to unveil its latest slate of productions.

Itaewon Class is based on the webtoon of the same name published by Kakao Entertainment. The story follows a young man who sets out to build his own business and challenge an established restaurant empire.

The Thai adaptation will reimagine the story with local cultural specificity. It stars Sky Wongravee as the young protagonist, alongside castmates Nok Sinjai, Nycha Nuttanicha and Film Rachanun.

The deal grows SLL’s presence in Thailand, with the company having previously produced Sky Castle for ONE31 channel.

The Thai deal comes soon after SLL’s Korean romance drama Something in the Rain was adapted for the Indian market as Shayad Yahi Hai Pyaar (Maybe This Is Love), produced by Pocket Aces. The series premiered in September and is airing on the Colors channel and streaming on JioHotstar.
