Walter Presents brings more high-end European scripted to English-language markets

Escort Boys is based on Johnny & the Knights of Galilee

Walter Presents has acquired three European series from Wild Bunch TV, securing French drama Escort Boys and Swiss-Italian crime thriller Alter Ego for the UK and Ireland, plus Belgian romcom Single Bells for the US and Canada.

Created and directed by Ruben Alves, French-language series Escort Boys is set amid the sun-soaked landscapes of Camargue in southern France, where three men struggling financially launch a male escort service for women that explodes in popularity.

The series, adapted from Israeli show Johnny & the Knights of Galilee for Amazon’s Prime Video in France, has Alves and Yaël Lebrati-Attuil as lead writers and is produced by Mediawan Studio-owned labels Oberkampf Productions and Story Nation Productions.

Alter Ego, meanwhile, is set in Italian-speaking Switzerland, where the daughter of a prominent politician is found dead in a forest. The series follows a local detective and a leading forensic examiner and celebrity criminologist as they pursue the killer.

The six-part series is directed by Erik Bernasconi and Robert Ralston and is produced by Amka Films Productions for Swiss broadcaster RSI.

Single Bells is a 12-part Christmas comedy centred on a woman who is unexpectedly dumped one week before Christmas. Directed by Charlotte Vanhecke, written by Geerard Van de Walle and produced by De Mensen for VTM, the Dutch-language series stars Julie Van den Steen.

Escort Boys will launch on Walter Presents in the UK and Ireland in December 2026. Alter Ego will arrive in the UK and Ireland in March 2027, while Single Bells will premiere in the US and Canada this month.

Walter Iuzzolino, curator and co-founder of Walter Presents, said each series has a distinct personality: “Alter Ego is a deeply atmospheric crime mystery with meticulous attention to local detail; Escort Boys is a fun, bold, irresistible story about masculinity and inversion of sexual power, while Single Bells is an exciting addition as it expands the Walter Presents offering into the romantic comedy genre.”
