TV 2 commissions Banijay’s Mastiff Norway to join the Werewolves pack

Varulv: Et spill om list og bedrag is the Norwegian version of Werewolves

MIPCOM: TV 2 in Norway has commissioned a local version of strategic reality game Werewolves to be produced by Banijay-owned Mastiff Norway.

The format, which originated on Canal+ in France in 2024 and is distributed worldwide by StudioCanal and Dreamspark, has now reached four international markets.

Set in a remote forest village, the game unites a group of strangers known as The Villagers, who must work together to win a cash prize. Hidden amongst them are the Werewolves, secretly plotting to eliminate players one by one and steal the prize for themselves.

The Norwegian version, titled Varulv: Et spill om list og bedrag, will see 16 celebrities take part, with Truls Svendsen and Oskar Westerlin hosting. The show was recently adapted in the Netherlands for Disney+.

The French format, adapted from the cult board game Werewolves and locally titled Les Loups-garous de Thiercelieux, was created by Philippe des Pallières and Hervé Marly and released by Asmodee.

It was produced by Presque Prod and JAAD Productions and coproduced by Canal+. Last year Banijay Entertainment acquired the rights to the format in the US, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Nordics, Netherlands, Israel, Mexico, Brazil and India and is shopping it at Mipcom this week.

Werewolves sits alongside properties including 100 Knives, Last One Standing, Million Dollar Idea, Cooking Grandmas and Date Knight on Banijay’s slate.

Mastiff Norway’s portfolio spans factual programming and primetime entertainment hits including The Summit, Bloody Game, Good Luck Guys, Hunted VIP, and Paradise Hotel.
