UK crime series Death in Paradise is part of the Polsat deal

Polish broadcaster Polsat has sealed a catalogue deal with BBC Studios (BBCS) to bring a multi-genre package of content from the UK-based production and distribution outfit to Polsat’s portfolio of channels.

Amounting to more than 200 hours, the agreement is the largest bundle of programming concluded by BBCS in the Polish market, according to the UK company.

It includes scripted series such as murder mystery Death in Paradise and daytime cosy crime series Father Brown, as well as factual titles like Atlantic: Wildest Ocean on Earth, David Attenborough’s Natural Curiosities and The Vikings Uncovered.

Meanwhile, BBC Studios Global Productions has agreed a renewal with Polsat that means the Warsaw-based broadcaster will continue to be the home of the Dancing With the Stars talent show format.

Zai Bennett, CEO of BBCS’s production arm BBC Productions, said: “These new agreements with Polsat underscore the enduring appeal of BBC Studios’ world class IP and our ability to develop and expand local partnerships.

“The strength and breadth of our catalogue means that we can offer even more ways to connect and entertain audiences in the Polish market, wherever they are, and with the content they love.”
